Realization

COIL pedagogically aims at facilitating student-centered and collaborative learning in an international and digital learning environment. In the UCOILD project we have developed the COIL collaboration model to realize this challenging goal

The COIL Collaboration Model

The “C” in COIL stands for Collaboration. Student-centered collaboration is core in a COIL as it provides experiential international, intercultural and digital learning opportunities. The COIL collaboration model is developed to support collaboration at all stages of a COIL. At each stage you will find hands-on examples on just how to do that:

At stage 1) preparing students, find examples on how to prepare students for a collaborative, online, international learning environment. At stage 2) relating find examples on how to break the ice and establish student relationships. At stage 3) find examples on how to exchange knowledge internationally and digitally. At stage 4) find examples on co-creation, and at stage 5) reflecting, find examples to support individual and joint reflections.

Putting the model into practice
